Tom Kurai
Director
About the artist: Tom Kurai has been performing and teaching the Japanese taiko drums for 30 years. He is the director of the Taiko Center of Los Angeles which promotes the art of taiko drumming in the community through performances and classes. Tom is a lecturer in the Music Department at UC Riverside, and teaches taiko as music therapy at Patton State Hospital in San Bernardino. He has performed at the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion, UCLA Royce Hall and at the Super Bowl Game.
