Riverside Metropolitan Museum

Founded in 1925, the Riverside Metropolitan Museum is a center for scholarship and experiential learning about the past, present and future cultures of Riverside and the natural resources of the region. The Museum maintains extensive collections that reflect Riverside's cultural and natural history and provides public programs to encourage greater understanding of, and public access to, its collections and exhibits.

    Rin Tin Tin Exhibit Riverside Metropolitan Museum Rin Tin Tin Exhibit Presented by Riverside Metropolitan Museum at Riverside Metropolitan Museum March 1-December 1, 2012 The display showcases various photographs of all the dogs from Rin Tin Tin I – IV; books, toys, and memorabilia, most of which, relate to the 1950s televsion series (a recent gift from Debra and John Hnath); and a firescreen depicting scenes from Mr. Duncan’s experience in France during World War I. The firescreen was hand-carved by Andre Farman and presented to Mr. and Mrs. Duncan as a gift. Plans for a complete exhibit expansion are upderway.

    Discovery Days Riverside Metropolitan Museum Discovery Days Presented by Riverside Metropolitan Museum at Riverside Metropolitan Museum January 18, 2012-December 18, 2013 Discovery Days is an ongoing children’s program focused on teaching kids about different aspects of nature and science, which features hands-on activities, live animals and plants, and animal experts engaging kids in the process of discovery. The Nature Lab is always open during Discovery Days, so don't forget to visit us on the second floor!

    18th Annual Old Style Independence Day Ice Cream Social Heritage House 18th Annual Old Style Independence Day Ice Cream Social Presented by Riverside Metropolitan Museum at Heritage House June 24, 2012 This is not your ordinary Ice Cream Social! All ages will enjoy this free community event which features ice cream, homemade lemonade, and musical entertainment as one may have celebrated in Victorian Riverside during the 1890s. Guests will have the opportunity to play authentic Victorian games, learn how old-fashioned hand cranked ice cream is made, operate a citrus sizer, and watch a special patriotic program by the Sons of the American Revolution that will include: musket firing,...
