The Morongo Basin Cultural Arts Council mission is to inspire and enliven the community through the arts, and enhance the cultural and economic health of the region. We accomplish our vision through a range of activities and initiatives, large and small, local and regional.

    We made the drive up to the Hwy 62 art tours last weekend and bought the map and program at Cactus Mart in Morongo Valley. This was our first time on the tours and it was quite an adventure, my son helped navigate and we all enjoyed going down back roads and then ending up in these great artists studios, talking to the artists and other guest, not to mention the interesting and affordable art. We bought some cards and ceramics and a small painting. What a variety of art we saw, anyway we thought we were done but during the weekn we talked to some friends about it and are headed back up the hill for another day of touring, this time out in the Twentynine Palms and Wonder Valley area.....     Allen Robison Barter and Mita Markland Barter invite you to come by their studio in Twentynine Palms during the 2nd weekend of the HWY62 Art Tours. They are #61 on the map. Allen will have large bas-relief figurative nudes made from found materials and cement type product, Mita will be showing her small assemblages made in rusty sardine cans and small metal tins incorporating maps, books and images and found objects. A Day of the Dead Shrine to Dead Artists will be set up on site and guests are encouraged to bring images of a favorite dead artist and offerings (food,flowers,etc) to place on the shrine. 9-5 October 31 and November 1 www.aridimage.com www.mitabee.wordpress.com Collapse
