The Day of the Dead celebration is an annual event at the Museum of History and Art, Ontario. With this year’s exhibition, “Artists Celebrate El Día de Los Muertos,” the museum is showcasing an array of artwork created by 26 contemporary artists. Through artistic expression, the exhibition is epitomized by popular trends, life-affirming symbolism and the autumnal tradition of celebrating the lives of those who have passed-on. Opening night festivities (October 15) include music by performer, educator and scholar, Martin Espino. He will invoke the spirits of the ancestors and our loved ones with visually beautiful and exotic sounding musical instruments of Ancient Mexico. (Image Credit: Castillo, 2006)
