Michael Noble and Jason Lee: Joint Recital

RECITAL IS AUGUST 1ST NOT SEPTEMBER 1ST. Pianist Michael Noble and Tenor Jason Lee will be giving a joint recital on August 1st, 4:00 PM at the Brandstater Gallery on the campus of La Sierra University. The concert is free, however donations are welcome. Biographies of Performers: MICHAEL NOBLE gave his first public recital at the age of six. He attended the Idyllwild Arts Academy, a boarding arts high school in Southern California where he studied with Dean of the Arts, Nelms McKelvain. Upon graduation he was awarded the highest honor for a musician at the Academy: the Outstanding Musician of 2005-2006. Michael has won numerous awards in competitions including the Bob H. Johnson Gold Medal at the 2009 Crescendo Music Awards in Tulsa, Oklahoma, 2nd Prize in the 2009 Chopin International Piano Competition of the Thousand Islands, 2nd Prize in the Harold Protsman Classical Period Piano Competition in Norfolk, VA, and laureate of the 2005 Idyllwild Arts Academy Concerto Competition. Michael has performed in numerous master classes for musicians including Gary Graffman, John Perry, Boris Berman, Antonio Pompa-Baldi and Richard Danielpour. He has participated in the Eastern, Aspen, and Bowdoin music festivals as well as the Morningside Music Bridge program in Shanghai, China. He attended the International Piano Academy in Freiburg, Germany in the summer of 2009 where he worked with Vitaly and Jura Margulis among others. Additionally, he has worked with such pianists as John O'Conor, Julian Martin, Martin Canin, Anton Nel and Marie-François Bucquet. In the fall of 2008 Michael attended the Paris Conservatoire as part of Eastman's Conservatory Exchange Program where he worked with pianist Nicholas Angelich. He recently graduated cum laude from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY obtaining his BM in piano performance and a BA in English at the University of Rochester. There he was a student of Nelita True. Michael is currently pursuing his MM at the Yale School of Music studying with Peter Frankl. Michael has performed with the Idyllwild Arts Academy Orchestra and will debut with the Tulsa Symphony in the 2011 season. His playing has been featured on KCAA radio in San Bernardino, CA. Additionally, he is featured in a documentary, Lost in Music, directed by Jaap van Eyck which took place during his audition at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Michael currently resides in both Moreno Valley, CA and New Haven, CT. JASON LEE, tenor, recently finished his B.M. degree at the Eastman School of Music. Performance credits at the Eastman School of Music include the title role in Albert Herring, Belmonte (Entfuhrung aus dem Serail), Brighella (Ariadne auf Naxos), Ferrando (Cosi fan tutte), Grimoaldo (Rodelinda) in scenes programs and the Fakir in The Secret Garden this past fall. He was also the featured tenor soloist in concert works at Eastman in Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and Handel’s Messiah. As a student and participant at the Aspen School of Music, he performed in master classes as well as various scenes programs including scenes from Summer in Smoke (Roger), Ariadne auf Naxos (Scaramuccio), Cosi fan tutte (Ferrando) and was part of the chorus in the production of Rossini’s La Cenerentola. Jason will be attending the University of Maryland in the fall as a member of the prestigious Maryland Opera Studio.
