All Aboard! Train Days

All Aboard! Railroad fans are invited to visit the San Bernardino County Museum from 9am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday, January 16 and 17, for “Train Days.” The museum will be filled with large and small model train layouts, real railroad artifacts, and activities for the whole family. The Pacific Coast Modular Club, Orange County Modular Railroaders, Antelope Valley N-Scalers, and Southern California Traction Club will install huge layouts with running trains, beautiful scenery, and miniature buildings. Other models will include a traveling circus, a monorail, trolleys, and an American Flyer train. “Folks will also enjoy seeing historic and recent railroad artifacts, including tools, train lanterns, and switch stands,” said museum educator Nancy Kirkwood. “We will have train experts to talk to visitors. Kids might even be able to run one of the model trains themselves.” Families can play “The Train Game” and learn about train signals, and create their own paper locomotive and train logo to take home. Everyone will enjoy looking at the Museum’s Southern Pacific locomotive and AT & SF caboose in the courtyard and see the progress being made on their restoration.

  Tickets: Admission is $8 (adult), $6 (senior or military), $5 (student), $4 (child aged 5 to 12), and children under five and Museum Association members are admitted free. Parking is free.
