Bob grew up mostly in Daytona Beach, FL. Very little is know about Bob's childhood. On occasion he would tell stories about pets he had such as a vicious and stubborn alligator and a mischievous armadillo. He had a 10 year career in the US Air Force and quickly discovered his talent for painting. He developed many quick techniques and was one of the few artists who did” wet-on-wet” techniques. He started his famous show, The Joy of Painting and everyone was amazed. When something in the painting didn't turn out the way he planned he called it a happy accident, not a mistake. His paintings on the show really did take just a half-hour, if not less. The only times the camera was stopped was if there was a really big blooper. He continued on with the show until his death. Since his death many people still enjoy his work and continue to try to perfect their paintings and still have as much fun as Bob did.
