Free Museum Admission

Admission to the San Bernardino County Museum will be free on Sunday, August 2, 2009 from 9am to 5pm. Visitors will enjoy special exhibits along with displays of specimens and artifacts that interpret local history, anthropology, geology, paleontology, and biological sciences in regional context. Free admission is sponsored by San Bernardino County’s Second District. Special exhibits are “Gadgets and Gizmos: inventing the modern world” and “The Art of Ramón Contreras and the Mexican Muralists Movement.” The Exploration Station live animal gallery will be open from 1 to 4pm. Outdoor exhibits include native plant and cactus gardens, a steam locomotive and caboose, mining and lumbering equipment, heritage orange groves, and sculpture. From 3 to 4:30pm, music students of the 6th Street School of Music will present a concert featuring music from classical and contemporaries genres. Many of the performers are winners of various music competitions, including the Redlands Bowl Young Artists Auditions, Inland Empire Idol, and Inland Idol. The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open from 9am to 5pm. Everyone is admitted free on Sunday, August 2. Parking is free.
