Add Review/Comment
Want a cool escape from those too-hot summer blues? Enjoy the toe-tappin’ jazz tunes of the Jimmie Dykes Quartet, Tues., July 21 at 7 p.m. in La Sierra University’s Student Center. The concert is free and features some of the best professional jazz musicians in the region who have worked alongside music’s hottest acts. Jazz pianist Dykes and band members Doug MacDonald, guitar, Jack LeCompte, drums and Henry “The Skipper” Franklin, bass, will play it up with classical jazz pieces you know and love. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The adjacent Eagles Nest café will offer gastronomical samplings for concertgoers. The event is part of the La Sierra University Summer Jazz Series featuring professional jazz musicians who have spent years honing their craft on stage and in the studio. Next concerts will take place on Tues., Aug. 4 and Tues., Aug. 18.
