The City of Rancho Cucamonga presents Summer Family Musical 2009: Oliver! at the Lewis Family Playhouse The Rancho Cucamonga Community Theatre is pleased to present this year’s Summer Family Musical, Oliver! at the Lewis Family Playhouse at the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center beginning Friday, July 10th and continuing through Sunday, July 19, 2009. Oliver! is the musical based on the book, Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. Oliver is a young orphan in a large workhouse who draws a great deal of attention to himself when he asks for more at the dinner table. No one likes a greedy orphan, so Oliver finds himself sold to an undertaker. He runs away, and is taken in by a group of pickpockets who try to teach the innocent boy to be a thief. Eventually he escapes from the clutches of the crime ring and finds love, happiness, and a home. Music and lyrics are written by Lionel Bart. Acclaimed Director, Kevin Slay leads the cast and creative team this summer. Musical Director Ronda Rubio conducts the live orchestra and Christa Havenhill is choreographer for the production. The cast features Christopher Sands (Fagin), Joseph Banuelos (Oliver), Noah Vitale (the Artful Dodger), Andy Scott (Bill Sykes), Valerie Jasso (Nancy), Ryan Brady, (Bumble), Kelley Goode (Widow Corney). Rounding out the principal characters are Walt Schaefer, Duane Thomas, Arlene Lea, Amanda Gettinger, Makenna Gettinger, Peyton Clark, James Ellis, Stephani Middlestetter and Jonathan Pray. The Rancho Cucamonga Community Theatre has been presenting plays since 2001 for the community. The Summer Family Musical provides an excellent theatrical outing for the entire family. Performances will be July 10-19, 2009. Tickets are available for Oliver! at the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center box office located at 12505 Cultural Center Drive, Rancho Cucamonga or online at www.lewisfamilyplayhouse.com for $16.00 for adults and $14.00 for youth/senior.
