Free Concert and Museum Admission

The San Bernardino County Museum invites the public to visit the museum in Redlands from 9am to 5pm with no admission fee on Sunday, April 5, 2009. Free admission is sponsored by James and Terri Ramos. In addition to exhibits of cultural and natural history relating to inland Southern California and the southwest, visitors will enjoy two special exhibits: “Gadgets and Gizmos, inventing the modern world,” and “The Art of Ramon Contreras, and the Mexican Muralist Movement.” The Beadazzled Beaders will demonstrate and display their beaded artwork from noon to 2pm. Visitors will also learn and make their own beaded jewelry from 11am to 4pm. The free family activities are sponsored by the Western Textile Center Association. From 3 to 4:30pm, the museum will launch its “Concert in the Courtyard” series in the new Hall of Geological Wonders Amphitheatre. The California Baptist University String Ensemble, conducted by Dr. Angela Brand Butler, will perform works by Brahms, Bachs, Tchaikovsky, and other composers of chamber music. The California Baptist University String Ensemble was founded by Dr. Butler in 2005. Dr. Angela Brand Butler is an Associate Professor at the California Baptist University where she teaches chamber music, music history, and piano. She holds a doctorate degree in orchestral conducting from the Claremont Colleges, where she served as the doctoral orchestral assistant for three years. She was also named one the top five “Young Conductors to Watch” by the American Symphony Orchestra League in 1995.
