La Sierra University will hold its Winter Big Band concert under direction of Ken Narducci, director of wind and percussion studies. The concert will feature famed trumpeter Maynard Ferguson’s jazz hits “MacArthur Park” and “Gonna Fly Now.” The band will also perform its version of “Just a Closer Walk” along with “Echoes of Harlem” and “Kid from Red Bank,” hits by trumpeting great Cootie Williams. Saxophonist and former Loma Linda University Church senior pastor Bill Loveless will return to the stage to perform “I Left My Heart in San Francisco”. La Sierra’s Alex Caceres, trumpet, Kevin Straine, guitar and vocals and Jed de la Paz, piano, will perform with the band.
