The Corona Art Association will hold their first meeting of 2009 on Tuesday Jan. 13 at 7:00 p.m. at the ART HOUSE GALLERY, 510 W. Foothill Parkway, Corona Heritage Museum. The guest demonstrator of the evening will be artist Subodh Maheshwari who will demo a watercolor collage using different techniques, different values, wet on wet, & how to tear paper to make collages. Subodh is a lifetime CAA member and an internationally acclaimed artist. Subodh was born in Aligarh, North India, where she learned folk art and classical music. Her art is a fusion of Eastern symbolism and Western composition, influenced by Rajasthani and Moghul art, and it is accented by Hindi and Sanskrit passages. Highly individual in style, her works have been described as emotional, mysterious, personal and humorous. "My paintings give me space to feel and express my visual delight in color, shape and form." Subohdh has participated in many shows nationally and internationally including the fourth Cosmopolitan Exhibition in connection with the Olympics in Seoul Korea. Her work can be found in many private collections worldwide. She earned her Mater of Fine Arts at the University of California, Irvine. She teaches fine art and folk art classes including workshops and demonstrations as well as Hindi classes. She is presently teaching out of Riverside Community college. She also teaches private classes which includes different styles, subjects and mediums. She lives in Corona and where you may visit her studio but please call first.
