The Rancho Cucamonga Community Theatre is pleased to present the hilarious comic farce Noises Off at the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center beginning Friday, November 21st and continuing through Sunday, November 30th, 2008. Noises Off is a play within a play of a fictitious bawdy comedy entitled Nothing On—the type of play in which young girls run about in their underwear, old men drop their trousers, and many doors continually open and shut. Act One is set at the dress rehearsal, the night before opening with the cast still fumbling with entrances and exits, missed cues, misspoken lines, and bothersome props, most notably several plates of sardines. Act Two portrays a Wednesday matinee performance one month later. In this act, the play is seen from backstage, providing a view that reveals the deteriorating personal relationships among the cast that have led to offstage shenanigans and onstage bedlam. In Act Three, we see a performance near the end of the ten-week run when personal friction has continued to increase and everyone is bored and anxious to be done with the play. The actors attempt to cover up a series of mishaps but only compound the problems and draw attention to the bungling performance. Veteran Inland Empire stage director Howard Wilson directs the production. “For those of us in theatre it’s a little too close to home. I’m finding out in directing this play that the actors are becoming the characters. We’re having some of the same discussions with some of the same issues” says Wilson. “I’m waiting for Rod Sterling to appear at any moment!” The cast features Mitchell Burke, Jeffrey Deards, Ben Dunlap, Tom Kirkpatrick, Heather Lozano, Jessica Puertas, Daniel Schneider, Jodi Tanaka and Phyllis Zimmerman. Performances will be November 21-30, 2008. Tickets are available for Noises Off at the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center box office located at 12505 Cultural Center Drive, Rancho Cucamonga or online at www.lewisfamilyplayhouse.com for $16.00 for adults and $14.00 for youth/senior. Noises Off is sponsored by the Rancho Cucamonga Community Foundation.
