André Rieu is a Dutch violinist, conductor and composer; famous for creating an international revival in waltz music and for his many top selling DVD and CD recordings with his Johann Strauss Orchestra. He plays a wide range of classical music as well as popular and folk music. The Orchestra has over 40 members and performs regularly with guest musicians and singers. Rieu and his orchestra have performed throughout Europe, North America and Japan and have won a number of awards including two World Music Awards as well as Gold and Platinum recordings. They’re well known for performing classical works with a distinctly unorthodox frivolity, joking with the audience and performing all sorts of antics while maintaining a very high standard of play. His lively and colourful orchestral presentations have attracted worldwide audiences to classical music.
