Gallery walk, A Feast for the Eyes
March 2, 2008
Add Review/CommentSan Bernardino County Museum visitors are invited to join Curator of History Michele Nielsen for a gallery walk in a new special exhibit, “A Feast for the Eyes,” on Sunday, March 2 at 2pm. Admission to the museum is free to public that day. “A Feast for the Eyes” features food preparation and dining from the 1860s to the 1940s and how they relate to the way we eat today. Nielsen will guide visitors through the exhibit to learn more about eating accessories, traditions, and even table manners in the past. “Practice a few fancy napkin folding techniques, or see if you can tell the difference between the myriad of forks found on a table from the 1880s,” said Nielsen. “Do you have a favorite recipe? I will share a few unusual receipts, as they were called, from a bygone era. Some may be enticing. Others are different, shall we say, but all reflect culinary practices of the past.” “A Feast for the Eyes: dining in style” is showing in the Hall of History until October 26. The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays and holiday Mondays from 9am to 5pm. Everyone is admitted free on Sunday, March 2, sponsored by the San Bernardino County 5th District. Parking is free. For more information, visit www.sbcountymuseum.org.
