Bear in Mind: The Story of the California Grizzly

Over the centuries, the relationship that Californians have had with the grizzly bear is one of dualities – expressed in fear and fascination. Although extinct in the state, the grizzly has been a central character in California’s history. Illuminating the story of the grizzly is the exhibition “Bear in Mind: The Story of the California Grizzly” which opens at Riverside Metropolitan Museum on February 24 and runs until June 29, 2008. A special Family Fun Day on Sunday, March 2, 1-4 pm will feature Bear Activities, local Native American Bear Stories and Songs, and more! Children and adults are encouraged to bring their favorite teddy bear that day to have its picture taken to be a part of the exhibit. Museum entrance and event is free and open to the public.
