OUR MASKS MAKE US Trans-personae explores the all-pervasive and diverse roles and guises chosen by individuals and how those define their surroundings and circumstances. The word for this exhibition is a combination of the word “persona,” which literally means “mask,” and refers to social roles or characters played by actors, and “trans,” meaning “change,” “across,” and “through.” The artists featured in this exhibition, Bob Debris, Robbie Miller, and Naida Osline, document the ways in which their subjects perform their chosen personae, in a collection of playful and offbeat works. Exhibtion curators Jennifer Barton and Jason Charavarty.
