Company Ea Sola: Drought and Rain, Vol. 2 Vietnam National Opera Ballet – Hanoi Hanoi’s foremost modern choreographer Ea Sola presents the eloquent sequel to her world-renowned piece Drought and Rain in the company’s Riverside debut. Born in Vietnam, but trained in Paris, Sola’s memories of country, tradition and war remain pivotal to her choreography. Volume 2 is a courageous look at the legacy of the Vietnam War through the eyes of the next generation. Twelve live wire dancers from the Vietnam National Opera Ballet ricochet across the stage adorned with small portraits resembling Vietnamese memorial alters. Observes Ea Sola, “The young person carries the memories of the old warriors…peace belongs to them when they take the responsibility…” Original music will be performed live by a traditional Vietnamese ensemble.
