In the spring of 1942 all of the Japanese and Japanese Americans living in Riverside were forced to leave their homes and relocate to isolated incarceration camps for the duration of WWII. On Sunday, October 14th from 3pm to 6pm at the Cesar Chavez Community Center, Riverside Metropolitan Museum (RMM) will present Reading the Walls: Riverside Stories of Internment and Return, a program of personal reflections on the Japanese American experience during WWII and an exploration of what it meant for our local community. The program will include a video of interviews with Japanese American community members produced by the RMM and a film and performance by artist Reiko Fujii. The program will be held at the Cesar Chavez Community Center located at 2060 University Avenue in Riverside and will be immediately followed by a reception. Special tours of the National Historic Landmark Harada House will be offered from 1 - 2:30 pm by reservation only. For more information: (951) 826-5273 or visit www.riversideca.gov/museum.
