The scene is a fishing lodge in Georgia, often visited by British demolitions expert Froggy LeSueur, who runs training exercises at a nearby army base. This time he brings with him his friend Charlie, a shy young man overcome by fear at the thought of making conversation with strangers. So Froggy tells everyone that Charlie is a foreigner, unable to speak English. Charlie overhears many interesting – and some sinister – revelations, made with the thought that he doesn’t understand a word being said. The fact that Charlie actually DOES comprehend more than anyone realizes fuels the nonstop hilarity of the play and sets up the wildly funny climax, when things go awry for the “bad guys” and the “good guys” emerge triumphant. Howard Wilson joins the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center team to direct this production alongside a talented cast of local actors, many of whom have been in past performances with the Rancho Cucamonga Community Theatre. The cast includes Michael Buczynski as Charlie, Steve Siegel as Froggy, Arlene Lea as Betty, Lauren Bell as Catherine, Jarek Smith as Ellard, Mark Sanfilippo as Owen and Mitch Burke as Reverend Dave. The production will play June 22nd through July 1, 2007. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights and 2:00 p.m. on Sundays.
