Each of us can look at something or someone and see completely unique facets that reflect what is going on inside of us at the time. Perspective is choreographer Marie de la Palme's way of using steps and simple props - a door, a red fabric and a cage – as metaphors for life's intimate journey. Ms. de la Palme brings to her work a wide variety of professional experience ranging from Russian classical ballet to vertical wall dancing and acrobatic artistry with props. Her focus has been to create dances that are simultaneously entertaining and meaningful. The recipient of three McCallum Theatre Dance Under the Stars Choreography Awards, Ms. de la Palme has also received two nominations for the Los Angeles Dance Resources Horton Award. Her most recent partnership is with the Shinnyo-en Buddhist order, which took her to Japan last June and gave her the opportunity to assemble a cast of 12 diverse cultures to dance together for a Peace Ceremony this past April.
