A 2-week celebration of Hip-Hop culture through theatre, dance, music, poetry, spoken word and art. March 8 at 8 p.m. Free Spittin' Fire UCR's Hip-Hop Congress presents an evening of Hip-Hop music featuring many of the IE's hottest MCs. March 9 at 8 p.m $5 Hip-Hop Theatre, The INTRO Califest founder Rickerby Hinds will break down the Hip-Hop Theatre genre through a preview from works to be presented during Califest '07. March 10 at 1 p.m. Free Hip-Hop Workshop, NYU Professor and Hip-Hop Theatre director Daniel Banks leads a workshop for actors, directors, dramaturges, and anyone interested in discovering the nuances of this theatrical genre. March 10 at 8 p.m. $5 Black and Brown: Similar Shades of Story, Through their poetry, Southern California spoken-word artists explore the relations and connections between African Americans and Latinos. March 16 & 17 at 8 p.m. $5 DREAMSCAPE by Rickerby Hinds A young black woman is shot to death by the police while she is passed out in the front seat of her car in the middle of the night. March 17 at 1 p.m. Free Make a Joyful Noise, Dr. Daniel Walker conducts a family conference on Gospel music, Hip-Hop culture, and the arts of praise culminating with gospel/Hip-Hop performances. All events will take place at UCR in the Theatre Lab, Humanities 411 located next to the University Theatre.
