Dias de los Muertos

Join the San Bernardino County Museum celebrate Dias de los Muertos on November 4, 2006 from 10 am–3 pm. Visitors can enjoy this day of celebration and learn about cultural heritage and its significance at no charge. The activities will include a musical and dramatic performance by Victor Valley College Ballet Folkrico del Desierto, and basket weaving deminstartiosn and hands-on activities with Nexwetem-the Southern California Indian Basketweavers Society. Visitors can also chat with genealogists about resraching family history. Families will also have fun making papel picados (cut paper panels), zempusúchiles (paper-marigold-flowermaking), calavera (skull), mascaras (masks), and la calacas or esceletones (skeleton puppets). The event will also feature a festive ofrenda (altar) where visitors can place memory items if they care to do so. An area for picnics will be available.
